President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday at State House, Nairobi hosted Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo who paid him a courtesy visit. The two leaders discussed an array of subjects including Africa’s peace and stability, integration and development.
Obasanjo, who considers himself a Godsend ‘watchman’ to Nigerians, was a career soldier before serving twice as his nation’s head of state, as a military ruler from 13 February 1976 to 1 October 1979 and as a democratically elected president from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007.
He made history as the first military ruler to hand over power to a civilian.
The last time he was in Kenya, it was speculated that Obasanjo’s visit is the result of behind-the-scenes diplomatic efforts resolve the standoff between President Kenyatta and former prime minister Raila .
