After his deal to move to Arsenal failed last season, Wilfried Zaha seems mentally ready to leave his current club, Crystal Palace. The Ivorian, known for his trickery and close control has been affected by how his deal failed.
His boss, Roy Hodgson says “”It’s obviously affected him (his deal) because his form in the last few weeks has really been quite poor considering what he is capable of doing.”
Several months ago, reports from Chelsea said that the player is in their future plans. Chelsea have had luck with another Ivorian, Didier Drogba, and are hoping to utilize Zaha’s talent to the fullest. If Arsenal are still interested in the player, a tag of war between the two clubs seems probable.
Zaha is a product of Palace’s academy. He had left for Manchester United in 2013 before returning to Selhurst Park in 2014 on loan. The Ivorian scored 10 league goals in 2018-19. He only managed just four this term which shows lack of enthusiasm. It is his lowest tally since the 2015-16 campaign.
“It’s a dilemma for the club and a dilemma for him if he is so set on leaving. If he feels he just does not want to be with us any more, that would be sad.”
“We still like him very much; we can’t make him like us. This is a situation that only he and the club can sort out. I don’t have an answer” Roy Hodgson says.
“Wilfried Zaha is so set on leaving Crystal Palace” Roy Hodgson adds. The 27-year-old Ivory Coast forward was linked with moves to both Everton and Arsenal last summer.
